COVID-19 ADVISORY: As the City of Fresno lifts the shelter in place order starting Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the Fresno Arts Council encourages you to please protect your health, and the health of your community, by familiarizing yourself with local and federal public health guidelines to prevent the community spread of COVID-19 in Fresno County.
The Fresno Arts Council is officially not hosting any public ArtHop events, including First and Third Thursdays, until further notice (as of April 2020).
We will be seeking guidance from state and local officials to determine when to again host this community event. We encourage all venues to avoid gathering people in densely-attended outdoor public art events as well as indoor art activities where social distancing guidelines cannot be consistently followed.
Although the Fresno Arts Council does not have any authority over the operations of local participating businesses, including official ArtHop venues, we advise that artist studios, galleries, and retail businesses follow all guidelines issued by local, state, and federal health agencies.
As such, the Fresno Arts Council encourages all participating ArtHop venues to establish clear social distancing options, should venues choose to remain open to the public during this transition, and keep indoor occupancy low to reduce the potential for person-to-person spread via close physical contact. In all situations, we recommend that ArtHop venues continue to frequently disinfect and deep-clean surfaces that are frequently touched by the general public, such as door handles and restrooms, and to make hand sanitizer available to patrons if possible.
Current ArtHop Venues: your fees for 2021 will be waived due to shelter in place orders in 2020.
Please note that the Fresno Arts Council is not responsible for curating or managing the operations of any participating ArtHop venue. As a county arts organization, our role is to advocate and promote public arts programming to help practicing artists and arts communities thrive in Fresno County.

“The Fresno Arts Council realizes that by curtailing the largest free, public arts event in the county, this has an impact on the public and our creative community. We are heartbroken to take this action, but we feel it is absolutely critical for the health of our community.” —Bruce Kalkowski, Fresno Arts Council Board President
