Weibel continues to explore new subject themes and media. His brand new series Carried Ashore: Another Cartography, depicts one figure helping another through transition. Inspired by Weibel’s time on the central coast and current world events, these are not typical seascapes. The figures depicted are created by combining collage elements from vintage atlases, nautical charts and maps, soft pastel, and other media (ignited gunpowder) on paper. A fine art print reproduction of one image, Breaking Surf, was selected by the Fresno Art Council for the new Art Dyson designed Crisis Residential Treatment Facility of Fresno County Behavioral Health. The exhibition will also include a Retrospective of over two decades of art, which includes etchings (Geisha series 2006), monotypes (Yasumasa series 2009), gunpowder drawings (Exploding the Image 2009), mixed media figures and other work.

Bobby Von Martin

Thursday, November 1st, 2018 through Friday, November 30th, 2018

ArtHop: Thursday, November 1st, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Artist Talk: Friday, December 16th, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Fresno California artist Bobby Von Martin is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He fell in love with art from a very young age, being born into a family of multiple professional artists. His passion is to inspire youth and adult native american communities with his cultural influences and historical subject matter in his paintings. He also concentrates in the current struggles and beauty of the indigenous people. Because of that subject matter, it allows non natives to learn more about indigenous people. He has donated his time to teach local native youth art classes and is currently doing native paint nights in the local native centers. He has also donated his art to many local native and non native activities for fundraisers and local events. Bobby is a resident artist at M Street Arts Complex in downtown Fresno, CA. People can view his art anytime in his private studio. He prides himself on giving back to the local community as much as he does painting.
