Instructor: Lura Schwarz Smith or (559) 683-3060 . Please visit http://www.lura-art.com and contact lura@lura-art.com for more info and e-mail us to register.

Textile inks have a wonderful range of applications. For both traditional and innovative uses, from the simplest shading of an appliqued leaf or petal to detailed color work on portraits of people or your favorite pet, inks can enhance your work and add new, beautiful dimension to your textile and quilting work.

Learn easy, effective shading and blending techniques in this workshop. Working from your own photos or drawings (any subject matter) you can produce images of your choice. No prior art experience required – just come with an “I can do it!” attitude. We begin with simple, fun exercises on paper and then work with your imagery of choice on fabric. Explore the use of textile inks, markers, oil pastels and other art materials. This small, intimate group will have a great deal of personal attention for each student, and everyone will be working on their own imagery of choice. Come and have fun with inking fabric!

What do I bring?

Bring at least one clear, unframed 8”x10” or 8 ½”x 11” photo, any subject matter you want to work with. I recommend bringing a variety of photos to choose from, as you may be able to work with more than one.

What will be provided in the workshop?

Paper and pencils. Non-bleed muslin. Class use of inks, applicators, textile markers, gel pens, Prismacolor pencils, oil pastels, etc. Light boxes, transparencies, sharpies.

All materials are provided and included in the workshop fee.

Fee: $240.
